Cupuacu butter is native to Brazil, and is extracted by cold pressing the seeds of the Cupuacu fruit, which is a commonly cultivated and restorative tree crop grown throughout the Amazonian rainforest basin.
It contains nutrients such as antioxidants, phytosterols, and fatty acids, components that help repair the skin barrier, thus improving skin’s ability to retain moisture over time. 100% raw cupuacu butter is firm, but not brittle at room temperature and quickly melts at body temperature. When melted and whipped with other butters and oils it provides an especially smooth and creamy consistency and leaves behind a semi-matte, velvety texture on the skin.
This butter is in the same fruit family as cocoa butter and has a natural chocolatey and fruity aroma. It can be substituted 1:1 in any recipe calling for cocoa butter.
