Pumpkin spice body butter recipe

Pumpkin Spice Body Butter Recipe

Fall is one of my favorite times of the year. I love the fall colors of the trees, weather cooling down and of course the smell and taste of pumpkin spice!

This year I put together a nice recipe for a pumpkin spice body butter. It is packed with ingredients your skin will love as the weather cools down and it has the nice scent of pumpkin spice to fit this fun time of year.

I have also made a video tutorial on how to make it here:

Body Butters

Body butters are usually composed of a combination of butters, oils and waxes to make a nutrient rich moisturizer for the skin. They are thicker than lotions as lotions contain a high percentage of water. Body butters are more concentrated and focus on rejuvenating or repairing dry or damaged skin. They can be used all over the body or on problem areas.

About the Ingredients

Mango Butter ย is rich with antioxidants, fatty acids and vitamins that nourish the skin andย  boost its elasticity and suppleness. In this way it can help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It is also known to boost the skinโ€™s luster and natural radiance while reducing the appearance of dark spots.

Kokum Butter is a hard butter that contains nutrients and antioxidants which help nourish and repair damaged, cracked skin. It is naturally flaky and brittle when at room temperature making it popular for its stability. Once it comes into contact with your skin it melts and absorbs easily leaving it feeling soft and moist without a greasy residue.

Jojoba Oil ย is packed with nourishing properties that moisturize the skin, leaving it feeling soft and supple. Jojoba Oil is well known for having a composition that closely resembles sebum, the naturally created substance in human skin which helps to keep it moisturized. For this reason it is easily accepted and safe for all skin types.

Coconut Oilย is rich in fatty acids which moisturize, repair and protect your skin.

Rosehip Oilย also known as the โ€œOil of Youthโ€ has a long list of powerful benefits. This includes its skin brightening properties that help restore the skins natural color and tone while lightening any unwanted dark spots and blemishes. It is loaded with Vitamin A and antioxidants, which promote skin regeneration and helps reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and age spots.

How to Make:

  1. Put Mango Butter, Kokum Butter, Jojoba Oil, Coconut Oil and Rosehip Oil in a heat proof glass container
  2. Heat it on low in a double boiler, stir the ingredients occasionally while being heated
  3. Once fully melted, remove from the heat, cover it and put it in the fridge for about 1 hour
  4. Remove it from the fridge once it is cooled but not completely solid (the sides and bottom are firm but the middle has a bit of liquid)
  5. Blend for about 1 minute using an electric mixer
  6. Using a spoon or spatula, mix in the scented oils and mica/eyeshadow
  7. Once mixed in use the electric blender again to whip it all together until it reaches the desired consistency, about 3-4 minutes
  8. It is ready! Scoop into your final container, cover with a lid and store in a cool dry place.

To use, clean the area of the body in need, pat dry and apply body butter. Allow to soak in. Use once a day or more if needed.
